Two shot dead in alleged taxi related violence

NANDUWE patrol squad gunned down in Nancefield.

On Tuesday, September 15, two NANDUWE Taxi Association squad patrollers were shot dead in Nancefield Hostel.

According to a media statement released by Moroka Police station Captain Mpande Khoza, it is alleged that the squad vehicle was parked in the area next to the Rea Vaya station when the shooting took place.

It is alleged that the victims were sited inside the car when three unknown males came from behind and started firing shots that left the two members fatally wounded.

Khoza said the suspects fled to the hostel by foot where they were picked up by a grey BMW.

“The motive for the killing is unknown at the moment, but police suspect that the killing is related to taxi violence.

Two cases of murder are being investigated by Moroka Police and no suspects have been arrested so far,” said captain Khoza

He appealed to the community around the Nancefield Hostel to assist the Police with any piece of information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects. Khoza urged anyone with information to contact the station commander or the detective commander of the Moroka Police Station.
