Soweto – Eskom has announced that there will be load reduction in certain areas of Soweto tonigh

Customers are urged to shut off all their electrical appliances to avoid possible damage due to power surges when the supply returns. 

In a statement from Eskom’s Communications and Stakeholder Management, Willian Mnune said that load reduction will be implemented on the evening of 14 October from 5pm to 10 pm.

This is in an effort to reduce network overloading in high-density areas.

The areas that will be affected are, Chiawelo, Dhlamini, Jabavu, Jabavu Central Western, Jabulani, Klipspruit, Mofolo Central, Mofolo North, Mofolo South, Molapo, Moroka, Moroka North, Orlando Ekhaya, Orlando West, Pimville Zones 1-7 & 9, Senaoane and Zondi.

Customers are urged to shut off all their electrical appliances to avoid possible damage due to power surges when the supply returns.

“Failure to do so may lead to transformer trips or failures, and damages to household appliances when supply is restored,” said Mnune.

He added that customers are asked to please not report this outage but are encouraged to report meter bypasses, illegal connections, and vandalism of the electricity infrastructure.
