A Diepkloof mother is desperately praying for her 36-year-old son’s safe return after he left home on Sunday, April 4, and never returned home. However, he was allegedly spotted by a neighbour, who is close to the mother at the Bree Taxi Rank a few days after his disappearance.
Busi Mkhonza, who is described as a loving mother by her neighbours shed a tear while relating the story to Soweto Urban, saying that she did everything she could to make her son, Jimmy Sithole happy and says that on the day he decided to leave home, he left unprovoked.
“Although his behaviour was weird, on the day he left I did nothing that might have provoked him. I am so hurt because I did everything in my power to make sure that my son is happy, I make sure that our home is warm,” said the devastated mother.

Sithole reported her son missing at the Diepkloof police station prior she was told that her son was seen at the Bree Taxi Rank. The neighbour, who also spoke to Soweto Urban said that when he saw Jimmy, she was at Bree, minding her own business but something caught her eyes, it was Jimmy, she said when she saw him, he appeared to be scavenging for food from other people’s food remaining and his lip looked like those of someone who is dehydrated, He still looked clean and was carrying a backpack but this could mean he is living like one of those homeless people.
The neighbour said that she was shocked because Jimmy comes from a warm home, so she confronted him and he denied living like a homeless person and said that he needed some time away and that the neighbour should not tell his mother.
“I love my son and I want him to come back home, whatever it is that is bothering him, as a mother I think I can help him, if he needs professional help, I am willing to walk with him every step of the way, I just need him to come back home,” said Mkhonza.
He was also spotted at Newtown and the family is pleading with anyone who sees him call his mother on 078 636 7958 or they can call his sister, Chami on 082 323 0545.
