Protea residents embarked on a short distance run and walk as a way of supporting this year’s Spar virtual challenge

#LiveLimitless despite the restrictions and limitations they faced.

Protea residents took to the streets for the SPAR Women’s Virtual Challenge on Saturday, September 4 and demonstrated how they #LiveLimitless despite the restrictions and limitations they faced.

The event which was organised by Podium Athletics Club saw residents of Protea embarked on a short distance run and walk as a way of supporting this year’s Spar virtual challenge.

The run was divided into two with some residents running 10 km while others participated on a 7.5 km walk from Glenridge Phase 1.

Protea residents joined 75 000 participants throughout South Africa who took part in this year’s SPAR Women’s Virtual Challenge.

They were invited to run any distance of their choice in their respective areas between 06:00 and 18:00 due to strict covid-19 rules.

The club believes that the challenge is saying that females can live limitlessly, no mountain is too high and nothing is unattainable, hence they joined hands and became a part of the initiative.

“As the Podium, a club that has only been existing for a year and few months, we are excited to have been a part of this initiative. We believed that we have made our mark within the community and the athletics fraternity,” said Theo Rafere, the founder of Podium Athletics Club.

After registering to be a part of the virtual challenge, participants received a running pack which consisted of a Spar t-shirt and a medal.
