Throughout the year, the organisation feeds hundreds of children and adults from Eldorado Park and surrounding areas three times a week depending on sponsors.

“We worked the whole year and now it is coming to that time when we relax. We are busy preparing for the children party and we are asking people to assist us with food items, juice, sweets, whatever they can contribute towards the party,” said Steenkamp.

The Founder shared that she has been hosting Christmas parties for children for more than ten years and every year the blessings come without fail.

Steenkamp would also like to thank each and everyone who has donated to the organisation throughout the year. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, the organisation had to cater to more families who are in need since the unemployment rate increased in the area. Through the donations, Steenkamp and her team were able to assist those in need.

Every year we cater to at least 500 children at our year-end party. We cook for them and then we get one or two jumping castles for them to play on. When they go home, we also give them ice cream at a party pack after a day of fun with their friends,” added Steenkamp.

Thusa Bantwana which is based in Eldorado Park, extension 8 will be closing on December 19 and will reopen on January 2.

If you would like to assist with the children’s party, you can contact Florence Steenkamp on 063 351 1745.
