This event gave a platform for South African companies selling Korean goods to expand their consumer reach. The organisation invited South Africans to explore a variety of their goods, gave away free gifts and donated masks to different organisations.
Soweto United Academy was one of the beneficiaries receiving 15, 600 KF94 Masks. Soweto United Academy consists of over 150 members with most based in Diepkloof and has both a netball and football team. Although the focus is on nurturing talent in young children, the organisation’s chairman, Sipho Mazomba said the goal is to keep children away from the streets, by taking care of their basic as well as educational needs.
“The donation was a much needed one especially in the midst of the global pandemic. Now our members will have a long-lasting supply of good quality masks. We are grateful for this and all thanks to a man called JJ Kim, who runs a Korean auto parts store based in Diepkloof Zone 6, he is the one who introduced us to them and on top of that, he has been our main sponsor,” said Mazomba.
“Our goal is to keep children away from the streets while unleashing their talent and with this amount of support, we will achieve more,” he added.
In a short period of time that the organisation has been around, their netball team already plays in the Diski99 League and football team plays in the Mayfair Soccer League.
