Take note as BlackRose goes international

Multi-talented and self-taught artist Shanaaz Abdulla, better known by her stage name BlackRose from Kliptown gives us an update on her life and music

BlackRose was first interviewed by Soweto Urban in November last year when she performed at the Ke-Moja Gig Truck in Extension 9, Eldorado Park during an anti-drug awareness event.

Since then, the artist was supposed to have released her album N.O.T.E which stands for Not Of This World in April but unfortunately that did not happen.

The artist shared why: “I wasn’t able to release my album because there was a lot of hiccups in terms of finances and secondly, I feel that I could have done better with the production. There were a lot things that I had to work on.”

Even though we will have to wait a little longer to hear N.O.T.E, BlackRose was excited to announce an international project that she has been working on with Swaliga Foundation based in the United States of America.

The foundation focuses on providing STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) as well as art programmes to the youth.

“I have been in contact with them for the last three years and I was supposed to be shooting a music video for one of my songs which is on their project. My song Garden of Gold was selected to be the signature song for the project and it has a remix as well. I did a promo video for them and we will be doing the official music video in spring. The members of the Swaliga Foundation will be coming through to South Africa to give a few programmes to the children like they previously have done,” shared the artist.

BlackRose has currently putting her album N.O.T.E on hold but works towards bettering herself through a self-discovery journey through her church. The artist concluded the interview by sharing that she is really enjoying everything that she is doing at the moment and is hopeful that by next year she will be in the United States performing her song Garden of Gold.

Garden of Gold is available for streaming on all platforms.
