The 87-year-old gogo has spent her life living in a tiny asbestos leaking house which has gone as far as affecting her health.

In that small house, she lives with seven of her grandchildren whom she supports with her social grant.
Through a partnership with South African Breweries, the team was able to refurbish Nkosi’s house by fitting in a new roof.
Other companies helped with painting, installation of ground tiles and new furniture. The team also created a mini garden and planted vegetables to help Nkosi cut down her spending by easily accessing vegetables at her yard.
“As public safety, it is our responsibility to see that our elderly in our communities live in a place where they will feel safe,” said MMC Tembe.
“After having identified the house we went out to get sponsors of building material and SAB came to our rescue and said they will do everything. This is inclusive of the company that said they will put tiles.”
MMC Tembe also said the team will come back and view the house when everything is done.

Nkosi expressed her gratitude and thanked the team for what they have done for her.
“Thank you so much for helping me. My roof was too old and when it rains it would leak and we would get wet. I hope you do this for others who are also in need, may God bless you,” she said.
