The NPO was invited by the children’s centre to partake in the planned 67 minutes celebrations where the community, parents and guardians of beneficiaries together with the centre staff members converged to clean and reorganise the facility, and prepare a hearty meal for everyone.
“Today was a great day at the Rena Le Lona Centre. As an organisation that deals primarily with the community where children are concerned, we couldn’t just show up with nothing.
“We donated five boxes of clothing for children of ages six to 18.
“To be able to see the smiles on their faces is what completed the day for us, and makes it all worth it in the end, knowing that we could impact a life,” said Daniel Boshomane from Pelican Light Foundation.

Boshomane who previously worked at the centre as an art coach for children said it was good to return to a familiar place that impacted his life.

The commemorative day at the centre included performances by beneficiaries where they showcased several performances for sponsors and donors who were in attendance.
Centre Administrator, Brian Mkhize said the donation will go a long way adding that the centre remained thankful to everyone who continues to play an instrumental role in ensuring the gap of inequality in closed.
“We are thrilled that today they were able to honour our invite and put a smile on the faces of our children,” said Mkhize.
“Many of the beneficiaries come from homes who are either one person is working or the entire household is depended on social grant.
