Entries for Spar Thembisa Mile still open

The 1 Mile race will incorporate the Central Gauteng Athletics championship for the U10, U13, U15, U19, elite and 1 Mile walk.

Online entries for the annual SPAR Thembisa Mile and 10km are open and available on a first come first served basis.

Entries are available online at www.thembisamile.co.za

Entries will close on October 23 when the maximum number of entries have been received.

Race T-shirts are available when registering online.

Donald Mathipa, the founder of Thembisa Mile, invites people to take part in the event.

“We encourage the athletes to register online as we cannot guarantee the availability of last-minute walk-in entries,” said Mathipa.

The 1 Mile race will incorporate the Central Gauteng Athletics championship for the U10, U13, U15, U19, elite and 1 Mile walk.

The race will start at 07:00 and finish at the Moses Molelekwa Arts Center near Makhulong Stadium.

Thembisa’s two main streets, Andrew Mapheto Drive and RTJ Namane Drive, will be traversed by competitors throughout the race.

All registered participants will get medals and SPAR goodie bags.

A total of R75 000 prize money is up for grabs.

SPAR North Rand, City of Ekurhuleni Sports and Recreation Division, Vision View TV, Lenmed Zamokuhle Private Hospital, The Thembisan, Athletics South Africa, Central Gauteng Athletics, and Thembisa Athletics Club are the sponsors and partners of the SPAR Thembisa Mile and 10km event.
