Benefit concept to raise funds for evicted Soweto gogo
Earlier this month, a viral video circulated on social media platforms showing gogo Mosidi and her grandchildren being evicted out of their home in Meadowlands Zone 1.

Mzansi Act Now and various South African celebrities in the entertainment industry have collaborated to rally behind 101-year-old Kenaope Moshidi through a benefit concert in Soweto.

The concert dapped ‘Doing it for Gogo’ will take place at Disoufeng Pub and Restaurant in Meadowlands on Saturday, October 22 in a bid to raise funds for the Moshidi family.
According to the organisation, the core concept of the concert was aimed at restoring the Gogo’s dignity and assist the family.
The civil society group which expressed disappointment at the events which was widely circulated on social media platforms said it was shame that the Gogo was now homeless and were promoted to assist in organizing the concert with a collective of various organisations in the country.
“The outcome may have caused emotional damage to the elderly women and we wish for uGogo to be reinstated o the familiar environment and living conditions she’s accustomed to,” a statement read.

Through the concert, the organisation hopes to raise anywhere between R350 000 and R1 million which will come the ticket sales on the day and be donated to the family.
The lineup will include Mr Jazzi Q, Fistaz Mixwell, Bizizi No Kaygee, Nobantu Vilakazi, Mdu Masilela among a long list of entertainers whom all have pledge their support for the elderly grandmother.

This as a man, claiming to be the new owner alleged to have bought the house from one of the grandchildren in the family.
An investigative committee has since been formed by the governing party, Operation Dudula and various stakeholders to determine the rightful owner of the house.
