Soweto singer Xylia uses debut single Imithandazo to inspire hope

The emerging artist, originally from Mthatha in the Eastern Cape, is carving her own path in the South African music industry with a song centred on prayer, faith and trusting in God’s plan.

Protea Glen-based singer Xola Botomane, popularly known as Xylia, is using her music to inspire hope and encourage people to remain steadfast in their faith through her debut single, Imithandazo.

The emerging artist, originally from Mthatha in the Eastern Cape, is carving her own path in the South African music industry with a song centred on prayer, faith and trusting in God’s plan.

Xylia’s journey began at a young age when she moved to Matatiele at five years old, where she was raised by her grandparents.

After completing high school, she moved to Johannesburg to pursue her dreams of becoming a singer and actress.
Her love for music developed during her childhood, inspired by Disney Channel shows and films such as Hannah Montana, Camp Rock, High School Musical and The Cheetah Girls

She would sing along to her favourite songs, imagining herself performing on stage one day. These childhood experiences helped nurture her passion for music and performance, with Disney Channel remaining close to her heart. As she grew older, Xylia began writing her own songs and developing her identity as a songwriter. However, despite her passion for music, she initially lacked the confidence to take her work into the recording studio.

Encouragement from people who recognised the beauty and sensuality of her voice helped her overcome her fears and believe in her abilities.

She is now promoting Imithandazo, a heartfelt song through which she hopes to remind listeners of the importance of prayer, particularly during difficult times when answers may seem out of reach.

For Xylia, the message behind the single is deeply personal, as she believes in the power of prayer and the importance of trusting God’s timing.

“Praying in faith is not hoping God might; faith is knowing God will. Believe that God hears you and can answer your prayers, even if it’s not in the way you expect. Don’t give up. Continue to pray with faith and trust in God’s timing,” she said.

The single has already received support from radio stations and positive feedback from listeners, marking an encouraging start to her musical career.

Through her music, Xylia hopes to connect with listeners on a deeper level by sharing messages of hope, perseverance and spiritual conviction.

As she works towards establishing herself in the industry, the singer is focused on releasing more music, growing her audience and developing a sound that reflects her identity as an artist.

From a young girl singing along to her favourite Disney performances in Matatiele to pursuing her musical ambitions in Johannesburg, Xylia’s journey reflects courage, perseverance and a willingness to step beyond her comfort zone.

With Imithandazo introducing her to a wider audience, she remains determined to pursue her dreams and use her voice to make a meaningful impact through music.
