It is an initiative designed to use netball as catalyst to encourage South African youth to embrace their individuality.
The campaign is reminding young people of South Africa that with all their challenges, they are able to get up and focus on earning their place.

The SPAR Proteas netball players, Bongi Msomi, Izette Griesel; Khanyisa Chawane and Tshina Mdau have been selected to inspire young South Africans to reach their potential ahead of the first African hosted Netball World Cup 2023, set to take place in Cape Town in July.
Through shining a spotlight on South Africa’s netball heroes, Stand Tall aims to illustrate to the youth that they can be their own heroes by turning their individuality and differences into strengths.

Msomi emphasised how being confident in yourself can lead you to a life of success and purpose.
“I have so much appreciation for where I come from. What keeps me going is the understanding of who I am outside of netball or who I was before the sport,” she said.
“If you can’t do something because you’re scared of failing, then you cannot move but if you can stand tall above your challenges, anything is possible.”
According to Chawane, her end goal includes shining a spotlight on all South African youth and not being the only one to live her dreams.

“The spotlight is not always about you .You need to make sure the netball legacy lives on. Reach out to the roots of young people and smaller communities and equip them with skills that you have,” said Chawane.

Last year South African women national football team won the AFCON finals against Morocco. This is the year of women in sports and it is important that SA rally behind the netball team like they did with Banyana Banyana.

“It is the start of women sport being taken serious since we have succumbed under male sport.
“So having to host such a big event in South Africa is a great opportunity to us netball players and as women as a whole,” Chawane concluded.
