Fleurhof Mall promises economic opportunities between Soweto and Roodepoort

The site connects Soweto to the western suburbs via key arterial routes. This location positions the mall to draw customers from both communities while boosting local trade and accessibility.\

Abcon Developments (AD) and Masingita Group of Companies (MGC) are jointly constructing the new Fleurhof Mall (FM) that will serve as a critical economic link between the historically segregated areas of Soweto and Roodepoort.

The development is expected to generate hundreds of construction jobs over the next 12 months.
The project will bring formal retail, small business opportunities, and improved access to a fast-growing urban community.

Situated on Fleurhof Drive, a strategic commuter link completed in 2017, the site provides direct connections from Soweto to the western suburbs via key arterial routes.

The development signals a new phase in the economic transformation of Fleurhof and will uplift the neighbouring communities.

“The development signals a new phase in the economic transformation of Fleurhof, one of Johannesburg’s largest integrated housing developments.”

“More than 9 000 housing units have been completed in Fleurhof in the last decade.”

“This rapid growth, retail centres, and residential developments have created a pressing need for accessible, well-serviced shopping and business facilities,” said Bruce O’Donnell, managing director of AD.

Beyond employment, the mall will provide a platform for local entrepreneurs and small businesses to access a larger customer base.

The mall’s reach will extend across a densely populated urban zone with strong potential for retail growth.

The chairperson of MGC, Dr Mike Nkuna, said: “Fleurhof Mall will unlock a direct economic corridor between Soweto and the West Rand, giving residents and small businesses the opportunity to grow.

This is more than just a development project; it’s about empowering communities and creating opportunities.”

Construction is scheduled to be completed in August 2026, and the mall is expected to open its doors by September 2026.
