Gauteng police operation leads to major arrests

Police in Gauteng arrested hundreds of wanted suspects during Operation Shanela Two, targeting violent offenders across all five districts.

Gauteng police arrested 770 wanted suspects during a major operation conducted across all five districts between October 10 and 12.

The suspects were arrested for serious and violent crimes, including murder, attempted murder, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, robbery, rape and sexual assault.

According to police reports, 196 suspects were arrested in the Johannesburg District, 255 in Tshwane and 137 in Ekurhuleni.

Law enforcement agencies intensify patrols to ensure safer neighbourhoods across Gauteng.In addition, 186 suspects were apprehended in the Sedibeng and West Rand districts, while 265 others were arrested during roadblocks, stop-and-search operations and liquor outlet compliance checks.
