JMPD nabs suspect after a chase

Dangerous encounter ends in capture after high-speed chase at Golden Highway and Union.

One suspect was arrested by JMPD officers in Eldorado, on Monday, February 3 for the possession of an unlicensed firearm, following a following a chase that ensued during a routine operation at the Golden Highway and Union.

The operation formed part of Region G’s ongoing efforts to curb crime and saw officers intercept a vehicle with four men.

The false number plates found on and inside the vehicle, revealing a sinister attempt to evade detection.

According to JMPD spokesperson superintendent Xolani Fihla, the suspects fled on foot, but they apprehended one.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered an unlicensed firearm and different registration number plates.
Further inspection revealed the number plate on the vehicle was false.
