Kaldine confirmed that they are still waiting for the OB (occurrence book) number to be issued.
According to her statement, it is alleged that the mother of the minor had previously reported a case of sexual grooming; however, the SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit allegedly failed to act on the matter.

SAPS has also been accused of referring victims to obtain protection orders from the courts instead of recording cases, which is a violation of the Children’s Act 38 of 2005.
Soweto Urban has requested comment from Eldorado Park SAPS and will publish their response once it is made available.
