Freedom Park and Hillbrow: Gauteng traffic police arrest two for drug possession

Two suspects were arrested for drug possession after Gauteng Traffic Police and Traffic Wardens uncovered Mandrax tablets and crystal meth during patrols in Freedom Park and Hillbrow.

The Gauteng Department of Community Safety has confirmed the arrest of two suspects for drug possession during separate patrol operations in Freedom Park and Hillbrow.

While patrolling around Freedom Park squatter camp, members of the Gauteng Traffic Police and Gauteng Traffic Wardens noticed suspicious activity at one of the shacks. Upon searching the premises, a female suspect was found in possession of half Mandrax tablets and crystal meth. She was immediately apprehended.

In a separate operation, while conducting routine patrols in Hillbrow flats, officers received a tip-off about a block of flats allegedly selling drugs.

Following a search, a male suspect was discovered with full Mandrax tablets and crystal meth and was arrested for possession of drugs.

The Gauteng Traffic Police have urged community members to report suspicious activities and drug-related crimes to help combat the ongoing drug trade in the province.
