JMPD K9 Unit recovers two stolen vehicles in Soweto

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department's (JMPD) K9 Unit has successfully recovered two stolen vehicles in separate operations across Soweto, reinforcing its dedication to curbing vehicle-related crimes in the city.

The JMPD’s K9 Unit officers have recovered two stolen vehicles in separate operations in Soweto.

According to the JMPD, the first recovery took place in Meadowlands after officers received a lookout alert from Tracker SA. While on patrol, the K9 Unit spotted and recovered a stolen Toyota Corolla that was reported stolen from Johannesburg CBD.

The second recovery occurred in Protea South, where officers located a stolen Kia K2700 along Empire Street. The vehicle was stolen from the Protea Glen area.

Both vehicles were seized and booked in at the police’s vehicle pound in Lenasia for further verification and investigation.

The JMPD commended the swift action of its officers, highlighting the importance of collaboration between law enforcement and vehicle tracking partners in ensuring successful recoveries.

“Our K9 Unit continues to deliver excellent results through vigilance, teamwork and coordination with our partners.

“We remain committed to fighting vehicle theft and ensuring criminals are brought to justice,” the department said in a statement.
