#2026Localelections: Eldorado Park voters urged to cast ballots before 21:00
Residents and local personalities rally young people to make their mark at polling stations before voting concludes.
Residents of Eldorado Park still have approximately two hours to vote before the 2026 Local Government Elections conclude.
While some people woke up early to visit various voting stations, others had to go to work or attend to other commitments. However, there was still time to make their voices heard, as voting stations were scheduled to close at 21:00.

A young resident from Eldos requested to remain anonymous, who was voting for the second time, having previously participated in the national elections, described the voting process as fantastic.
He said he hoped the government would engage with young people and bring change that would address issues affecting them.
“We would like to see a change in our country, not just in local government elections but nationally as well,” he said.
He described the voting process as smooth, adding that it was not too long and everything went well.
He encouraged other young people who had not yet voted to come out and make their mark.
“As youth, if we can work together as one voice, we can make a change in our community and our country as well. Make a change in your country with your voice. If your voice is not being heard loud enough, just make an X and it will be made louder,” he said.

He described the process as simple and quick, adding that there were many officials at the voting station, which helped ensure everything ran smoothly.
Du Plooy said young people should not dismiss the importance of voting, as there were various political parties from which to choose.
“There are so many parties now that you can vote for. There are so many young parties you can vote for. So just find the party that appeals to you and your values,” he said.
He encouraged voters to research the parties they intended to support and understand what they stood for and what difference they could make in their communities.
He added that voting should go beyond political affiliations, as residents needed leaders who would remain committed to serving their communities.

“Find out what appeals to you, find out why you’re voting for that party and see what difference they make in your community. You can’t vote for a party that does nothing for your community.”
Registered residents are encouraged to use the remaining time to cast their ballots before voting stations are scheduled to close at 21:00.
