Food Lover’s at Jabulani Mall targeted by armed robbers

Police have opened an investigation following an armed robbery at Jabulani Mall.

Gauteng police have confirmed that they are investigating a case of business robbery after Food Lovers Market in Jabulani Mall was robbed on Sunday afternoon, July 30.

Heavily armed men were reported to have blocked the two entrances of the mall while some made way into the store.

The gun men who were masked pounced on the store and took money from the tills and safe.

“The information at hand indicate that while the nine suspects were robbing the store, two more suspects armed with firearms were at the main entrance of the mall and the other four suspects, also armed were on observation opposite the mall,” said SAPS’s Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi.

Videos circulating on social media of the incident showed one of the masked robbers pacing outside the mall with a rifle.

The group of men fled the scene using a blue BMW vehicle and white Toyota Quantum.

According to Colonel Nevhuhulwi, the suspects run off with an undisclosed amount of money.

“Police request anyone with information that can assist the investigation to contact their nearest police station or the Crime Stop Line at 08600 10111,” Colonel Nevhuhulwi appealed to the public.

No injuries were reported during the incident.
