“Being actively engaged in sports teaches the young ones responsibility because there is a lot that they need to give into ensuring that they are motivated and are able to cope with the huddles that come with being young sports people. Sports also change their attitude towards life as a whole,” Simente said.

He added that it was the first time they hosted such a programme and to encourage children to partake in the next programme, everyone was awarded medals for their participation.

“The criteria was that children play games according to their age groups.

“They also engaged in arts and culture activities because it all comes down to them knowing their roots and navigating to find their respective passion.”

Local ECDs expressed gratitude to the programme and organisers and urged them to host a second annual one.

Children from local ECD’s enjoyed their day with items from the program.

One of the ECD teachers from Tiny Blessings in Dobsonville, Mmathapelo Kgatitsoe said, ” Such programmes are beneficial to the young ones because rather than staying cupped up in the centres, they are able to go outside and do something different. We are really grateful to be part of this great initiative.”
