JMPD imposes stricter by-laws in Joburg CBD

JMPD’s ‘Nomakanjani ManjeNamhlanje’ campaign tackles street trading, illegal dumping, and car wash businesses during a by-laws awareness campaign in Joburg.

The JMPD has taken a significant step towards promoting public safety and compliance with city by-laws in the Joburg Inner CBD.

Through their Community Outreach Unit, the JMPD conducted an educational and awareness operation, dubbed ‘Nomakanjani ManjeNamhlanje,’ focusing on critical areas such as street trading, illegal dumping, car washing, and public behaviour regarding loitering and alcohol consumption, on November 4.

According to Superintendent Xolani Fihla, JMPD spokesperson, the campaign objective was to educate residents, visitors, and informal traders about the importance of adhering to city by-laws and regulations.”

The JMPD specifically targeted informal traders with education on the need for valid trading licenses, designated trading spaces, and proper waste disposal procedures.

Fihla emphasised, “We urge residents and visitors to comply with city by-laws to create a safer and more pleasant environment for everyone.”
