Education MEC marks school opening at Braamfischerville Primary

The school welcomed education officials, community members and parents to mark the occasion.

The MEC for Education and Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Matome Chiloane, visited the Braamfischervile Primary School (BPS) on January 15 when it opened for the new academic year.

“Today, we are here to officially receive the new school as a department and hand it to the community and school leadership.

“It is a beautiful school, with good infrastructure and technology, and is very advanced. We are happy with what we have seen,’’ said Chiloane.

Chiloane told the Urban News that after community members tried to vandalise and remove the former name, the Joe Mpisi Primary School, they decided to keep the current name, BPS.

Clr Nobuhle Mthembu said in her speech that the community had endured the indignity of inadequate education facilities for far too long.

“But today, we stand together to celebrate a momentous occasion. The completion of this state-of-the-art Braamfischerville Primary School marks a new chapter for Braamfischerville.”

Chiloane, Mthembu and the MEC for the Department of Co-Operative Governance and Traditional Affairs and Infrastructure Development, Jacob Mamabolo, cut the ribbon.
