He’s extensive experience and passion for service make him an ideal fit for the role. Having begun his career in 1988 at the Alexandra Traffic Department, he later joined the JMPD in 2001, where he excelled in various roles, earning a reputation as a dedicated and skilled officer.
As chief, Jaca has identified several key areas of focus to ensure a safer Johannesburg.
These include enhancing by-law enforcement, revitalizing the inner city, and improving crime intelligence. He also aims to boost public trust, increase officer visibility, and leverage technology to combat crime.
Despite acknowledging the challenges facing the JMPD, Jaca remains optimistic about the department’s future.

Jaca’s appointment has been welcomed by the MMC for Public Safety, Cllr Mgcini Tshwaku, who praised his integrity, vision, and dedication.
The Executive Mayor of Johannesburg, Cllr Dada Morero, also expressed support for Jaca’s appointment, highlighting its significance in enhancing safety and stability in the city.
