Annual workshop empowers youth in Jabulani
The workshop was aimed to equip young individuals with opportunities, resources, and knowledge to help them discover their purpose, while also inspiring them to take a leap of faith in pursuing it.
TellAVision hosted its annual Find Your Purpose (FYP) workshop at Jabulani SafeHub on March 28 and 29.
The workshop was aimed to equip young individuals with opportunities, resources, and knowledge to help them discover their purpose, while also inspiring them to take a leap of faith in pursuing it.
TellAVision executive creative and managing director, Kagiso Sithole said the lack of support and the ease with which people from local communities can receive false advice were the driving forces behind the creation of the workshop.

“Through the workshop, we are creating a safe space for young people to share and generate ideas, and to be part of the changes happening in their communities.
“Purpose is not only about ourselves but also about the people around us but most importantly, we want to be a helping hand in guiding young individuals as they find their purpose,” said Sithole.
He added that they are planning to conduct these workshops throughout various areas around Gauteng so as to ensure that different individuals find their purpose.
The workshop program included keynote addresses from various stakeholders, panel discussions, breakout sessions, skills workshops, interactive exhibits, and digital access opportunities.

Founder of the South African Learners Support Organisation (SALSO), Itumeleng Segona said the community must participate in these kinds of initiatives because many community members overlook their potential and believe such opportunities are not meant for them.

“When most people come to these kinds of settings, they get a chance to interact with different individuals, learn from others, and discover opportunities available to them.
“We want people to find their purpose, step out of their shell, and explore these opportunities. We believe that such initiatives are essential for the youth in our community,” she said.
An attendee at the FYP workshop, Siphamandla Mbatha, said attending the workshop was a good step for his career because he has received important information from the program.

“I have learned a lot from this workshop. I have found my purpose, and we’ve been educated about school-related programs and opportunities that can help uplift us.”
