Tshepisong residents outraged after abandoned newborn found in open field

The residents are calling on anyone with information regarding the incident to report it to the police.

Residents of Tshepisong Phase 6 were left shocked and saddened following the discovery of a newborn baby at a local dumping site in an open field on June 4.

According to information shared, the infant was found naked by a member of the community, who immediately alerted authorities.

Paramedics were called to the scene, but sadly, the baby was declared dead.

Police have opened a docket and launched an investigation into the incident.

Jerome Ndabandaba, a member of the Green Door initiative under the Tshepisong Community Safety Committee, strongly condemned the act, describing it as inhumane and deeply disturbing.

Ndabandaba has appealed to the public to come forward with any information that could assist in identifying the person responsible.

“We urge anyone who may know the perpetrator to report them to the police immediately,” he said.

The incident has sparked concern over the growing number of baby abandonment cases and calls for stronger community awareness and support mechanisms.
