Baby boy discovered in a bush near Power Park dam

JMPD Region D Operations officers responded to concerns from community members on Chris Hani Road near the UJ Soweto Campus on March 23.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a crying baby in a bush near the Power Park dam.

“The information that is currently at our disposal reveals that the baby is a newborn and was found inside a plastic bag.

“The officers immediately rushed the baby to hospital for medical attention where it was confirmed that the baby was a boy. The baby boy is currently receiving treatment,” said JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla.

The matter has been reported to Orlando police for further investigation
