Body of unknown woman recovered from mine dam in Slovoville
Johannesburg Water Policing and Diving Services retrieved the body of an unknown woman at Cooke 1 Mine, with police appealing for information.
Gauteng Water Police have recovered the body of an unknown female at Cooke 1 Mine in Slovoville.
The incident occurred on the weekend, when divers from Johannesburg Water Policing and Diving Services were deployed to the Wonderfonteinspruit at Cooke 1 Mine.
Police spokesperson Raymond Sambo said upon arrival, the team recovered a severely decomposed body of a woman from the mine dam.

Sambo said an investigation has been launched.
“The remains were secured in a body bag, hoisted down the dam wall, and handed over to Doornkop SAPS. An inquest docket has been opened for further investigation,” said Sambo.
Authorities are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has information that could assist the investigation to contact Doornkop SAPS or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
