Doornkop house collapse claims three lives as authorities launch investigation

A tragedy struck a local family when their double-story house collapsed in Doornkop on December 28. Three lives were lost in this incident: two adult females and one child.
Upon arrival at approximately 03:00, the EMS was dispatched to a reported building collapse. it was confirmed that six people were inside the house during the tragedy, and three people were trapped.

One patient sustained critical injuries and required immediate life-saving medical intervention after extraction. Others sustained serious to minor injuries and were transported to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital for emergency care.
The EMS said, “We offer our heartfelt condolences to the families.”

The cause of the collapse remains unknown, and the incident has been handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation.
