Back-to-school drive supports Wisani Primary learners in Pimville

Learners at Wisani Primary School in Pimville received much-needed stationery and book coverings on January 16.

As part of the Back-To-School drive, the Astro Kids and Adult Organisation (AKAO) donated stationery and covered books to learners at Wisani Primary School (WPS) in Pimville on January 16.

Made possible by donor Ndalamo Ramovha, the AKAO aimed to make a difference in the learning process by providing essential stationery and covering textbooks and exercise books.

Founder Simangele Nxumalo wanted to play a pivotal role in the academic year by starting a stationery drive, but did not know where to begin.

“Ramovha came at the perfect time. I was looking to play an important role, but resources were scarce. We did not want the children to start the academic year feeling left out, so we decided to do the stationery drive and assist in covering their books because we also know how expensive school essentials have become,” said Nxumalo.

Deputy principal Hlamalani Macevele was thankful, telling the Urban News that most children come from disadvantaged backgrounds and cannot afford essentials.

“This will make them look forward to learning and performing well in their academics,” Macevele said.
