Meadowlands Wellness Day offers free cancer screenings and support
The People of Joburg NPC will host a Community Wellness Day at Sinqobile Clinic on February 26, promoting cancer awareness, survivor support and health equity.
The People of Joburg (PoJ) NPC invites residents of Meadowlands and the surrounding areas to a Community Wellness Day at the Sinqobile Clinic, Zone 10, Meadowlands, on February 26.
The event will bring together patients, survivors, families, healthcare professionals and local leaders in a celebration of resilience, awareness and collective action against cancer.
Under the theme Wellness, awareness and ubuntu: Celebrating life beyond cancer, PoJ executive founder Phomolo Tenza, co-founder Steven Mogoai, and general secretary Nonni Manzini partnered with the private sector, government institutions, advocacy organisations and community stakeholders to make the event possible.

This partnership allows stakeholders to pool resources to ensure that cancer screenings, educational workshops and survivor support services are accessible to underserved communities.
According to Manzini, this is part of a pilot project inspired by Social Capital Champion Henrietta van Kramberg, a breast cancer survivor and patient advocate, who runs the project in Eldorado Park.
Van Kramberg emphasised the importance of collaboration, saying that when public institutions, private service providers and community leaders stand together, they create a powerful force for change.
“This Wellness Day is not just about health checks, it is about hope, equity and ubuntu,” said van Kramberg.

Manzini said the day’s agenda would include free cancer screenings, nutrition and wellness demonstrations, patient and survivor stories, and interactive workshops on prevention and family support.
“Survivors will be honoured for their courage, while families and workplaces will receive practical tools to strengthen resilience and awareness.”
The PoJ has pledged its commitment, recognising that health equity and education are cornerstones of sustainable development.
Their involvement underscores the belief that wellness is a shared responsibility, requiring institutional support and grassroots engagement.
