Lenasia SAPS investigates death of man found in river
Police have opened an inquest after divers recovered the body of a man believed to be in his mid-60s from a river near Trade Route Mall.
An elderly man was found dead in a river next to Trade Route Mall on July 18.
At approximately 08:00, divers from the Johannesburg Water Policing and Diving Services were called to a reported drowning on Klipvalley Road.
On arrival, they recovered the body of a man, believed to be in his mid-60s, from the river.

The body was handed over to members of the Lenasia SAPS at the scene.
An inquest docket has been opened, and police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police urged residents to exercise caution around rivers, dams and other open water sources.
They advised anyone entering the water to wear a life jacket where possible and reminded parents to educate children about the dangers of open water while ensuring they are properly supervised.
