The police in Kliptown are investigating a case of murder following an incident where the body of an unknown man was found in an open field in Pimville on August 7 at approximately 06: 30.

It is alleged that the man was assaulted and set alight by an angry mob in Pimville after an attempt to rob a local spaza shop.

It was further revealed that the man and two other accomplices have allegedly been linked to several housebreaking incidents and terrorising the community.

In a statement by the SAPS, it was confirmed that the body was burnt beyond recognition and was covered with a burnt tyre.

No arrests have been made yet, and police investigations are continuing.
