First- time mothers celebrated for Women’s Month
The day was designed to support vulnerable women in the community through a holistic program focused on maternal wellbeing, community support and economic empowerment.
Maponya Mall Community Hub and Future4Baby collaborated on August 1 to support 30 first-time mothers, particularly unemployed women with limited family support, through a holistic programme focused on maternal wellbeing, community support and economic empowerment.
The session linked immediate maternal and child support with sustainable income-generation opportunities, helping vulnerable mothers become more empowered and active contributors to their communities.

Through initiatives like the Maponya Mall Community Hub and Future4Baby, we are investing in people, unlocking pathways to economic independence and building a more inclusive, sustainable and empowered community,’’ said Sharon Radebe, marketing manager of Maponya Mall.
Through Future4Baby’s circular- economy model, all baby clothing and essentials were donated via their network, giving pre-loved items a second life, reducing textile waste and promoting environmental sustainability.
The programme highlighted direct support for first-time mothers through the provision of essential baby supplies and parenting education. It also introduced participants to Maponya Mall Community Hub programmes focused on entrepreneurship, digital skills, employability and business development, creating pathways towards long-term economic empowerment.

The initiative further aligned with Future4Baby’s Young Mums Entrepreneurship Network, which offers entrepreneurship and financial literacy training and opportunities. It also promoted circular economy principles, encouraging participants to explore sustainable approaches to income generation and community development.
The collaboration delivers measurable Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) impact by combining environmental responsibility with meaningful social investment and community development.
