The police have registered an inquest docket following the discovery of a female body in a dam in Moroka, Soweto, on September 20 at approximately 17:00.

The unidentified body was found wrapped in a duvet, with the victim estimated to be in her twenties.

This comes after the brutal killing of nine women by an unknown serial killer, with communities calling for serious intervention by the police and government.

Women have shared that they do not feel safe, as this is a national crisis with no particular area where a lifeless body might be discovered next.

“The circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown at this stage. The police appeal to members of the community who may have information that can assist with the investigation to come forward,” said Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, SAPS spokesperson.
