Gauteng water police recover body in Doornkop
The body of a man was recovered from a body of water in Doornkop Block 8 in Soweto, after Johannesburg Water Policing and Diving Services members were deployed to the scene.
Johannesburg Water Policing and Diving Services members recovered the body of a 35-year-old man on Heritage Day, September 24, who had a leather belt tightened around his neck.
Members were deployed to the scene at about 14:30.
On arrival, they recovered the body from beneath the surface at a depth of about 1.2m. The body was handed over to Doornkop police at the scene.

Police said they would open an inquest docket while conducting further investigations.
Gauteng police have urged the public to take precautionary measures when entering dams, rivers or other bodies of water to prevent unnecessary loss of life.
Individuals entering the water for any activity are advised to wear a life jacket. Parents of young children near open water are also urged to educate them about the associated dangers and ensure constant supervision.
