Masjid celebrates 31 years of services

Local mosque hits a mile stone as they celebrates 31 years of service.

Al-Aqsa Institute is one of the longest standing Masjid in the Newclare area.

Al-Aqsa Institute has been established since January 1982.

It was the first Mosque to offer Sunday Madressah in Gauteng which teaches younger children more about the Islamic religious ways.

The Institute offers a variety of Islamic subjects to pupils, age seven and upwards.

The Masjid operates from 8:30am to 1pm.

Since 1982, the Institute has seen around 3000 children has passed through its doors.

They may receive any an average of 100 pupils in total at any given year.

“We have started a Youth Leadership camp and it has been running for three years now,” said Rudeibah Khan

The Youth Leadership Camp has been based on getting the youth off the streets and learning more about their religion.

Learning life skills that would help them obtain skill that can be implemented in their daily lifestyle.

“One of the main factors that has contributed to the success of the Institute, is the dedication and commitment of its teaching and administrative staff,” said Khan
