The Riverlea Believers will be hosting a variety talent show which entails getting the youth of the surrounding areas busy with activities that they find interesting which is the arts.
This year’s performance will be different from previous shows that the believers has hosted because of the different elements that are added to this years show like modelling, dance and singing competitions.
The group would also be performing a stage play which will be presented by the youth of Riverlea community and surrounding areas.
Bernice Dollie said, “We want to open our talent competitions to surrounding areas so we can involve all of our children.”
“Having this event is to show case the talent in our community and giving children with talent an opportunity to get exposure.
“It is also to uplift our community and show an addict that there is hope and drugs or alcohol isn’t an option.
“It entails a fund-raising event and the money that will be raised will be sown back in the Community for a Christmas party to 500 children that has never experienced having a proper meal.
“This is the only way to have funds raised as we don’t have any funding from any institution and all funds come out our own pockets.
“We calling on all parents to help us make this possible if your children have talent and are sitting at home to send them to the Recreation centre who believes they could be making it big one day.
“We are also struggling feeding these children during practices and is asking residents and local businesses to please help us,” said Dollie
The Riverlea Believers has joined with ‘Mothers against drugs’ that are also based in Riverlea.
Auctions will be taking place everyday after school at the Riverlea Recreation Hall.
The event will be taking place December 8, 4pm at the Riverlea High School Hall.
