Water pipes leave soccer grounds damaged

Tension rises as construction company damages soccer grounds in Bosmont.

The installation of water pipes by Rand Water is causing residents of Bosmont headaches.

The construction of the pipeline has damaged property of a local soccer organisation.

Michael Kahn of the Bosmont Football Local Association says: “They broke down dressing rooms, affect four fields directly and collateral damage to all the other fields. Our local football, baseball, softball and cricket are suffering as a result. Numbers have halved since the work started.”

Ward 82 councillor Susan Stewart said she is not aware of the exact date that the project started.

“I got involved with the project when it had already commenced and only upon investigation did I find out that Rand Water was digging up their pipeline in the ward. They were granted permission by the COJ to commence work in the ward without my prior knowledge or permission,” says Stewart.
