Avon Justine hosted their 11th annual iThemba walkathon on October 23 to raise awareness about breast cancer. ‘Early detection saves lives’ was the theme and the event received strong support from women from all walks of life.
EldosFM ladies came out in their numbers to support the event and to spread the new.
Bevelyn Makue, a presenter at the community station, said “This is our fourth year and definitely not our last.”
“We seek to commemorate the lives we’ve lost and those who are battling breast cancer. Not just for EldosFM, but the Eldorado Park community as a whole.”
Lillian Dube, the popular South African actress and cancer survivor, was also at the event and acts as an ambassador for CANSA.
Participants completed a 5-kilometre walk at Marks Park in Emmarentia and donned pink in support of breast cancer sufferers and survivors.
EldosFM news reader Roshen Prantice conducted an interview with Dube and heard how early detection saved her life.
