Extension Seven Oumas tuck into an early Mother’s Day lunch

A wet but joyful turn of events for Avril Borias Foundation.

The Avril Borias Foundation (ABF), a recently registered Non-Profit Organisation (NPO), which has been in existence for longer than five years.

This foundation is in aid of expanding its programs and offerings to the vulnerable kids, elderly and the whole of the Eldorado Park community as well as the surrounding areas.

ABF has a mission, which is to feed and serve the vulnerable children and elderly through having efficient and effective processes in place, consulting with all stakeholders and tracking their progress regularly in order for them to remain consciously liable for the attainment of their vision and sustainability of the organisation.

Although the weather did not play along, that did not deter the foundation from hosting an event for the elderly mothers of Eldorado Park as they celebrated Mother’s Day a day early.

The event was supposed to take place at Number Three, Nebraska Avenue, Eldorado Park, home of the founder of the foundation, Avril Borias.

Borias was a bit tense as the rain was pouring, but fortunately, the event was moved to Maylene Meyer’s home at number 4 Nebraska Avenue across the road from Borias’ home.

The available shelter meant that the elderly women would be protected from the downpour as they enjoyed the meal provided by the foundation.

Borias said, “I am so thankful for the grace of God and myself, friends and family, as we grew up hosting these sorts of events for the elderly.

This was a dream of mine ever since I looked after the community’s children, I just felt like I owed something to the community.”

To top off the event, after a meal and dessert, the foundation handed out gifts to the elderly to show their gratitude towards those pioneers within the community who have held families together with little to no recognition.
