Find out to enter Miss Ubuhle Bemvelo

This pageant is not limited Protea Glen girls only but other Soweto areas can enter as well.

Are you a young aspiring model residing in Protea Glen area or in surrounding areas?

Looking for your big break in the modelling industry?

Miss Ubuhle Bemvelo is looking for young ladies from the ages of three years to 18 to go strut their talents on the runway.

Young business owner Ayanda Hlela will be hosting a pageant for young women in Soweto to encourage and motivate morale among women.

Hlela’s passion for modelling came after she participated in a church pageant when they were trying to raise funds for a rally the church would be hosting.

“I’ve always loved modelling from a very young age, but from that day onwards I was really interested in modelling, I wanted to know more about it and to do as much as possible with it.”

When she was done with her modelling career, she started hosting modelling workshops in Protea North.

“I realised the outcome was great due to the attendance and it was going very well.”

In 2011, Hlela hosted her first event called Miss Ideal according to her, the outcome was not bad and Love Life was involved.

This year Hlela wants more young girls to be involved in her pageant and modelling workshops.

“It’s not only but modelling and beauty we try to cover as much as possible to motivate them by sending motivational speakers, talking to them about how to take care of themselves.

Especially before reaching puberty, lessons on how to handle themselves at least so they know how to take care of their bodies.

We also have educational games for the ladies so it’s not about fashion and modelling related.”

Hlela is also a designer and a seamstress making outfits from bridesmaids’ gowns to matric dance dresses for ladies, and for the gents, it’s only traditional wear.

The modelling workshops are conducted on weekends mostly Sunday’s after church to accommodate matriculants.

The pageant will be Chiawelo Community Centre on August 9, Women’s Day.

“We are not looking for beautiful people despite the name, I’m looking for someone who is confident in herself, has a beautiful smile, believe in herself, and there are no specific sizes,”

Modelling workshops for the pageant start at the beginning of July during the winter holidays.

Ladies from Protea Glen, Mapetla, Naledi, Chiawelo, Protea North and surrounding areas that will be able to travel to the workshops are required.

Winners will get a photoshoot from R & N and will get the opportunity to wear clothes designed by Hlela for it.

“She will get to select two outfits that she likes, for the senior’s category which is 15-18 years, if the winner is 18 then I will make a matric dance dress for her; if not I will select whatever item they can wear whether casual or formal to wear for their next  pageant .”

For registrations, parents can contact Hlela on her 079 757 4973 and she will inform them on how to register.

Girls from the ages of three – 18 need to come with their birth certificate or a copy of their identity documents with one full-length photo of herself.

“Don’t give up on what you believe in when you think it’s not working out try harder there’s nothing that beats that and even today you are going to be able to make it,” said Hlela.
