A weekend getaway at Kwa Maritane Bush Lodge

Nestled on the slopes of an ancient volcano crater is the gorgeous Kwa Maritane Bush Lodge which offers a home away from home for families and couples alike.

Only two hours from Johannesburg and ten minutes from the famous Sun City Resort, lies the Pilanesberg National Park – a wildlife sanctuary known for its incredible game viewing and up close encounters with Africa’s iconic Big 5. It’s close proximity to Johannesburg makes it one of the most accessible game reserves in South Africa.

The studio rooms at Kwa Maritane are fitted with two double beds, except for two that have one double bed and a sleeper couch. These rooms are really comfortable, with ensuite bathrooms, air conditioning, satellite television, electronic safes and tea & coffee making facilities.

The executive rooms additionally have a minibar and some are fitted with a king-size bed.

The facilities at Kwa Maritane are extensive and include a restaurant overlooking the waterhole, cocktail lounge & bar, an outdoor boma that serves flame-grilled cuisine on a Wednesday and Saturday,a smaller boma for private functions, a swimming pool with slide, two flood-lit tennis courts, table tennis, outdoor chess, rock climbing wall, bush putt putt, children’s playground, spa, business centre, wildlife centre and museum, curio shop and an underground hide with live broadcast. The hide is connected to the lodge by a 150m tunnel and offers incredible sightings of animals that come down to the waterhole for a drink.

Kwa Maritane is the perfect base from which to enjoy the park’s rich diversity of indigenous flora and fauna. The safari experience includes early morning and late afternoon open-vehicle game drives led by professional guides; as well as bush walks, bush dining, stargazing and reptile demonstrations. The guides happily share their knowledge of the bush with guests and do their very best to track down as many animals as possible.

The lodge also offers a Junior Rangers Program for children aged six to twelve years. Supervised by trained staff, parents can rest assured that their kids are well looked after whilst they enjoy some time off. The kids are entertained with a range of activities; including game drives, bush walks, birdwatching, picnicking and much more.
