Human skeletal remains found in Naledi

Police have opened an inquest for further investigations.

The Gauteng Water Police recovered human skeletal remains in Naledi on February 24.

According to Johannesburg Flying Squad media liaison Raymond Sambo, divers from the Johannesburg Water Policing and Diving Services were dispatched at about 17:30 to a construction site following the discovery of the remains.

“Workers were excavating old water pipes in Naledi Camp 2, the remains were recovered in ankle-deep water and were handed over to the Naledi detectives at the scene,” said Sambo.

He added that an inquest docket has been opened for further investigations.
