Springs businesses get a headstart on recycling

"We need to teach business the importance of recycling."

Local businesses and residents eager to start a business received a free business course last week.

The course was offered by RecyclePaperZA, formerly known as Paper Recycling Association of South Africa (Prasa).

RecyclePaperZA advocates for improved paper recycling and efficient separation at source at businesses, homes and schools.

The four-day course took place at the civic centre and covered the basics of starting a small business and how recycling can benefit small businesses.

“We need to teach businesses the importance of recycling.

“Even the established businesses here realise they have much to learn, and we want to cover as much as we can,” said facilitator Kabelo Phakoe.

After the course, participants received a credited certificate and a business plan to help them start their businesses.

“This will be very good for the community.

“Unemployment is such a big issue in Springs. I’m sure this course will create jobs and reduce the unemployment rate,” said Wright Park CPF member Arles Baloyi.

RecyclePaperZA will be taking its course to various cities across the country.
