Here’s what to do in Springs

A look at what is going on in Springs.

• May 25
The popular Fatima Feast will take place at Our Lady of Mercy Church. The fete will run from noon to late. Come and join delicious Portuguese food – enjoy the Portuguese chicken, espetadas, pregos, bread, sweet treats and various stalls. Expect a busy, fun-filled family day with plenty of music and entertainment. The church is on Derby Road. For further details, call Merle Toach on 083 388 5123.

• May 31 – June 1
Machknitz calls young and old knitters for their knitting marathon. The event will boast a market with various stalls. There will be a prize for the child knotting the most scarves and beanies. Entry fees are R80 for adults, R40 for school children and free entry for senior citizens.

All knitted goodies will be donated to those in need. The marathon and market will be at Olympia Park School, 15 1st Avenue, Geduld, starting at 14:00 on Friday. For more information, contact Adri Grib on 066 017 8955.

Die Springs-tak van die Vroue Landbou-unie vier vanjaar hul 40ste bestaansjaar en ’n stylvolle viering met die tema is Leef in volkleur word beplan. Die kaartjies beloop R200 per persoon, wat ‘n ete, vermaak, pryse en verskillende uitstallers insluit.

Events that take place every week.

• Meat World Springs hosts a food market every Saturday from 06:30 to 14:00. With this, Meat World Springs calls on all vendors to apply to participate. Send your name, ID number and the name and a photograph of the food product you wish to sell for consideration to marketing@meatworld.co.za or call 011 815 1494.

• The Springs Farmers’ Market runs every Saturday. Buy fresh, affordable produce, arts and crafts, delicious food and milk. The venue is Den Akker at President’s Park. It runs from 07:00 to noon.
