Water interruption to affect parts of Springs
Residents are urged to store enough water ahead of planned maintenance that is expected to disrupt supply to several Springs communities for up to three days.
The CoE has announced a water interruption from July 17 to 19 that will affect parts of Springs.
According to the city, this is due to Rand Water’s planned infrastructure maintenance, aimed at strengthening the bulk water supply system and improve long-term water security.
“During this period, some areas across Ekurhuleni may experience low water pressure or no water, depending on the system supplying the area hence the call for residents to store enough water for essential use such as cooking, drinking and sanitation purposes,” stated the CoE.
Affected areas include:
- Welgedacht, Bakerton
- Slovo Park, Payneville
- Gugulethu/Everest
- Strubenvale, Casseldale
- Selcourt Estate
- Struisbult and extensions
- Sharon Park
- Vlakfontein Village.
Alternative water supply will be provided to affected areas through stationary water tanks and roaming water tankers.
Residents are encouraged to monitor the city’s official communication platforms for updates on tanker locations.
Businesses and institutions are advised to ensure that they have on-site water storage equivalent to their daily demand, or at least up to 36 hours, to minimise the impact on operations.
“Full restoration of supply will depend on the recovery of both Rand Water and the city’s systems after the maintenance work has been completed, particularly in high-lying areas, and areas supplied through pumping systems,” said the CoE.
