Springsites reveal who they think should fix the damage caused by protesters.

“There should be some form of responsibility taken by the protesters,” says van Wyk.

Juanita van Rooyen “It’s because of government they are protesting, so yes, they should fix it.”

Victor Khumalo “Not really. How can you expect government to fix the damage while you’re still protesting? You’re putting them under too much pressure.”

Siphokazi Takana “Government shouldn’t fix it. Now they have to fix damaged property instead of what they were protesting for.”

Erik van Wyk “There should be some form of responsibility taken by the protesters. They can’t damage property and there be no consequences at all. There should be a budget set aside for damages.”

Angelina Matsemela “No, government shouldn’t fix anything. They spend a lot of money doing that, where will they get the money? It’s not right.”

Mbulelo Ncokazi “The damage was done on purpose, by government going back to fix it, they are wasting money that could have been used for something else.”

Brigit Petzer “No, they shouldn’t fix it. But at the same time, it doesn’t fix the problem.”
