Load-shedding to be implemented during peak hours until Thursday

Eskom says the need to implement load-shedding is due to a continued shortage of generation capacity.

Stage 2 load-shedding will be implemented during peak hours starting today between 17:00 and 22:00.

Eskom says load-shedding will be implemented in this time until Thursday.

“Eskom will continue to closely monitor the system, adjust and communicate any changes as may be necessary.”

The power utility asked the public to reduce the usage of electricity and switch off non-essential items to help limit the impact of the power shortage.

According to Eskom it currently has 5 232 MW on planned maintenance while another 14 202 MW is unavailable due to breakdowns.
